Rules & Regs at a Glance

What to Bring:
1. Your grill or smoker set up. Electric service is limited so keep that in mind.
2. Canopy to cover your cooking area. Cooking areas are approximately 12x12 and located off the main tent in the grass.
3. At least 2 6 to 8 foot tables to cook on and serve from.
4. Sanitation station (check complete rules and regulations for description)
5. Cooking utensils, coolers, etc.
6. Fire extinguisher
7. RV or small camper if you will be smoking/grilling overnight. No tents are allowed.
Booth Decor:
1. Any decorations that are used to promote your team must be family friendly. Just be mindful that all
booth decorations should fit within your area. Flags, banners, posters, face paint and viking shields are
all welcome. There may be Benjamins on the line, but remember, this is all about having fun! So if you're
not fanatical, bring people that are!
2. Make sure you get your official Route 66 Hogs and Frogs Fest Frog Pot from the competition promoters
at the event! Every dollar raised is a point towards Best in Show!
3. Business Cards or Paper Logos of your Team so people can vote for their favorite dish of the night!
Preparation:
1. You will be required to submit your recipe no later than September 19th. Dish descriptions should include
the following:
Dish Title
Brief Description
List of Ingredients
Dish descriptions do not have to include instructions or measurement.
2. You will be supplied the protein of your choice such as whole chicken, pork or beef ribs, brisket or pork
butt.
3. There will also be a large pantry that you will be able to get ingredients from. The pantry list will come
out the week before the competition.
4. You can bring additional ingredients, they just have to be in their packages. No homemade concoctions. Spice blends must be made on site.
5. Cooking times vary based upon the recipe. Pits can fire up as early as 10am on Saturday.
Grilling/Smoking can begin as early as noon on Saturday. Entries must be ready for judges starting at
12pm on Sunday. Focus on your entree'. You can make side dishes, if you choose, but don't over-
shadow your masterpiece. If your child competed in the Kid's competition on Saturday, their dish can
accompany your entry.
6. All condiments must be in individual packages or sealed cups.
7. You will have to make three to five plates for the judges. After you have submitted your entree you can
start feeding the crowd!
Fortune and Glory!
BEST TASTING
The Best Tasting recipe of the challenge will be determined by a panel of no less than three guest judges. The winner of Best Tasting will be awarded the grand prize of $2,500. Best Tasting will also have a chance to win People’s Choice and Best in Show, as well.
2nd and 3rd place contestants will receive medals of culinary excellence and a consolation hug from Ms. Croaker.
Judging will be off-site so therefore, the judges will not be able to identify whose recipe they are tasting.
Team points will match the points given to them during judging and will go towards the total points for Best in Show.
PEOPLE'S CHOICE
People's Choice will be determined by the number of votes we receive for your team in Croaker's Cauldron. Attendees will vote on the energy and style of your booth along with the delectable taste and smell of your recipe. If you can Smell Punch the Schnoz, you just might take home the win! This is where your business card or paper logo comes into play! Winner of People's Choice award receives an eye-catching trophy, bragging rights for the entire next year and hugs and kisses from Ms. Croaker!
2nd and 3rd place contestants will receive medals of culinary excellence and a consolation hug from Ms. Croaker.
Team points will match the number of votes received and will go towards the total points for Best in Show.
BEST IN SHOW
Best in Show is the accumulation of all points that you have earned
during the competition, including the fundraising cash you turn in
from your Frog Pot. Each dollar equals a point.
Best in Show wins the coveted Croaker's Crown and they are
automatically entered into next year's competition!

Home town glory, regional recognition and beyond, and a shot at $2,500! This year the 3rd Annual Route 66 Hogs and Frogs Cooking Competition is going old school. No fancy trips to Texas, no peanut butter and jelly pipe dreams. We are blowing Route 66 up with the best culinary creations the Byway has ever seen! You want competition, we got it! Cooks from all walks of life will battle it out for cold hard cash and the cheers and admiration of Route 66 Foodies everywhere!
Come for the slicing! Come for the dicing! Most of all, come and cast your vote for the best plate of the night! Competitors will serve up their amazing offerings to competition attendees. Relish each bite because everyone gets to vote for their favorite dish. The winner will be named People's Choice, and lay claim to the coveted Croaker Crown.
